CLASS RULES & Expectations
First off, I want to let you know that I have never thought of "rules" in a negative way.... I think rules provide structure, safety and foster productivity in the classroom. Rules are good.
1). Participate! Come to school on time so you do not miss our class. Listen, work, and try each day. Respond to suggestions, reflect and make art. Every now and then you might not like a particular project we are working on. Try your best and move on. Complaining will not make the project go away and it won't make anything more enjoyable.
2) Food- There is absolutely NO EATING in our classroom. Due to significant student allergies and the overall nature of our course, there is absolutely NO eating in our classroom.
First offense is a detention. Second defense is a visit to the main office.
3) Cell Phones- No cellular devices in class unless directed by teacher. At times we will use phones to look up artists, artworks or vocabulary. Unless directed, phones should be out of sight in a backpack, purse, etc. You are allowed to check your phone during passing time and at lunch.
First offense: warning. Second offense: phone is put in a drawer in the room. Third offense: phone is brought to main office. Anything beyond this will result in detentions and student being sent to the office.
4) Punctuality- Arrive to class by the time the second bell has sounded. Freshmen, I understand this is all new for you! I will be more understanding the first week of school.
5) Communicate- I am here to help YOU. I am available during the day during prep periods and study halls. E-mail me at any time if you have a question about a grade, assignment, concept, etc. If you (with good reason) would like your seat relocated, if you don't understand assignment directions, ASK ME! I am here to help you.
