Term 4

Your final sketchbook assignment has THREE parts.  Make sure you complete the entire assignment and follow the directions for A, B and C.

A.  Movement
Define and adhere an image illustrating the folliowing:
ACTUAL MOVEMENT
SEQUENTIAL MOVEMENT
IMPLIED MOVEMENT
Use our Scholastic Art magazines to find art images

B.  Fears

Picture
Most people are afraid of something…. What is something that you are afraid of?
For me, it would be spiders.

Using ONE PAGE in your sketchbook, create a mixed media collage illustrating one of your biggest FEARS.  This must incorporate drawing, collage, and at least one found object.  Materials could be colored pencil, newspaper, construction paper, pen, paint, thread, and any found object that is relatively flat (so your sketch book will stay somewhat closed).

C. SUMMER!
Art is about VISUAL COMMUNICATION.  How can you communicate the idea of “summer”using no words?
What does summer mean to you?  What colors, images and ideas come to mind?
Using ONE PAGE of your sketchbook, create an image that represents “SUMMER” to you. Think about… color scheme, line quality
and character, symbols, and images that we associate with the warm summer months.  What reminds you of
summer…….?
Incorporate at least FIVE references to summer.  These can be personal references (a place you visit in the summer, a certain flavor of ice cream that you eat, etc.)  You may set up this page however you wish.... Use your knowledge of composition and the elements and principles of design to arrange the page to create visual movement.  You may want to divide the page up into areas of shape or treat the page as one summer scene.  Optional materials could be pen, pencil, colored pencil, watercolor, torn or cut paper, magazines......

Couple Ideas:  Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky, Prince William and Kate Middleton, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie,  Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez..... (you can create your own couple as well).
